Building Agile skills for UK Government Digital Services
Abstract
The UK has led the world in the development of government digital services since the creation of GOV.UK in 2010, and the mandatory use of Agile methods has been a central pillar of that success story.
As more complex government services are re-designed for the digital age, the challenges of large-scale Agile design and delivery within the political and hierarchical constraints of government becomes ever greater, as do the rewards for success.
Geof will summarise the brief history of GOV.UK, highlighting the lessons and opportunities for both public sector service delivery and the private sector.
He will also introduce the Consortium’s new Agile Digital Services course and qualification, which brings together the robust approach to Agile project management form AgilePM, with the user-centred approach to digital service evolution on which GOV.UK has been built.
The new course is currently being trialled within UK central and local government and is due for release early in 2018.
